Plumbing services by Able S-O-S Sewer Services in Rutherford, New Jersey

Warning: overpriced swindlers. This is what happened: I asked for a ballpark estimate of what it would cost to clear the main sewer line where roots typically have to be cleared periodically. They told me they couldn't give me that information over the phone and said they'd have to see what exactly needed to be done. Once here they see it is exactly what I suggested needed to be done and told me it would be about 400 plus tax. I already know this is overpriced because another company has given me a range more like 200 plus tax. I need to think about it and confer with my partner and was told they would need to charge me a 150 service fee for just coming out. He said he drove an hour to get here. I'm 1/2 hour from their office. He threatened that if I didn't pay the service fee they'd come after me and my credit would be ruined, and that then they'd put a lien on my house. Threatened! Shamed me too, saying I didn't even know where the clear drain was. Unbelievable gall. If I were a plumber I'd be doing the job myself - obviously I'm not going to know everything about plumbing. I asserted my rights that they should have given me the information I needed over the phone. I am now on their "do not service" or more like "cannot swindle" list. I will never call them again anyway. Be warned. Sure, they may know their business - if you're willing and able to pay inflated prices, go right ahead and use their services. The job will get done but you will have paid twice as much as another able-bodied plumbing service. I am sorry I had to waste my time and then more of my time making this complaint but another person may not know or be willing to stand up to their aggressive coercive practices. Find another plumber. I wish I could leave a no star rating but I am required to add a star in order to post this rating so one star it is.
