Ross Bellavia | I have used D'Angelo's in the past with good results. However, my furnace stopped running on a Friday evening and I needed a service call. I accompanied the technician to the furnace. He put his hand on the blower motor and said it was hot and that the fan was hard to turn. Based off of this he stated that the motor would need replacing. I asked if he could check the transformer, capacitor or anything else. His response was “I could, but I know the motor is shot, so it's not worth checking them.” He recommended a new motor, capacitor and transformer. The cost would be 1800, but he couldn't get parts until Monday so someone would be out the next morning with space heaters and to discuss options. It seemed like he did very little to diagnose the the problem so I checked for myself when he left. The blower spun very freely when I tested it. I did some research and testing. I determined that the circuit board was bad. I explained this to the person who came on Saturday and he confirmed my findings. 500 later, The furnace is running. Upon my request, they did credit the original service charge towards the repair. A bit expensive since I had to diagnose the problem myself. I told the person on Saturday that I wasn't happy. I could have bought a new furnace, which wasn't necessary; or put 1800 into a repair and then been told I need to spend another 500 because the board was also bad. The bottom line is: watch what the tech is doing. If you don't see any testing, beware. If you aren't capable of verifying what they tell you, either get a second quote or go elsewhere. |
Ann s | If you want to have them try to sell you something and not fix the problem then this is the company to call. And when you say you dont want to upgrade they will try to sell it to you on the "side" at a better price but wont cover warranty work. Techs are cocky and rude, would never recommend. |
