| Randall Roeser | Our 13-year-old natural gas hot water heat started leaking the day before we were to leave town to visit family. Our regular plumber doesn't specialize in water heater replacements, so I went to the web and found Empire. The stars were aligned for us. I called Empire at 3:00 p.m. A live human picked right up and told me that the work could be done that evening -- understandably with a surcharge -- but he also offered to tell me how to drain the tank if I wanted to wait to have it replaced after our return from traveling. The surcharge was reasonable in my estimation, so we decided to have it done that evening. The technician, Steve, called us ahead of time to let us know that we would arrive around 6:30 p.m., which he did. Steve was a real professional. He took me to the basement and explained what he was going to do, including disposing of the old unit, replacing it with a quality name brand model, and replacing a 3" exhaust pipe with a 4" to get us up to code. Then he went at it, and we hardly knew he was there. Three hours later, we had a new hot water heater and peace of mind, and Steve did a good job of cleaning up the work site. Empire was great to work with. |
